Directed Study, TTU, Fall 2014: Mobile Identity

Doing an honors directed study seemed like a good idea. And it was, in the end. But the journey was the most difficult I've had as an undergrad.

My research directors, Drs. Groundland and Barnard, challenged me to give 100% to this project, and expected no less. For the first time in college I was being graded against my potential instead of the rest of a class. It was indeed an eye-opening experience.

The final paper can be accessed here: Mobile Identity: The Role of the Sephardic Jews' Language in Fifteenth- and Sixteenth-Century Spain and Morocco.

National Collegiate Honors Conference, TTU, 2014: The Sephardim: Changing Language and Identity since 1492

This semester I was accepted to present my research from last semester (A Print to Call Home) at a poster session. The overall experience was wonderful, and I met several scholars, professors, and students who shared a passion for Jewish studies, Jewish languages, and Sephardic topics. This poster allowed me to succinctly display the most important points of my research, including a timeline, my basic arguments, and my final conclusion.

Senior Seminar, TTU, Spring 2014: A Print to Call Home

Please click here to access the final draft of my Senior Seminar Paper, A Print to Call Home: How the Judeo-Spanish Press and the Reform of Mustafa Kemal Revolutionized the Sephardic Identity from 1872-1928.

This draft had been read and awarded a Main Letter Grade "A" by my Professor, Dr. Elizabeth Propes who has kindly given suggestions for ways to improve. This draft, however, has not been revised to include her suggestions.
